Q - Why is it important to wear a properly fitted bra?
A - The breast is a delicate glandular tissue and not a muscle as it is most often considered. No matter the size, large or small, the breast needs to be supported. We all know that as we age we are effected by gravity and by not wearing a good supportive bra, you increase the effects of said gravity. For the fuller figured woman, a good fitting, supportive bra will reduce the back aches and headaches, and for all women it will improve posture, appearance and my personal favourite, self esteem and confidence. How many of us know of someone who rolls their shoulders forward to hide their breasts? A better posture will not only increase a woman’s self esteem but it will improve the look of her clothes because they will fit better. Breasts should be positioned midway between the shoulder and the elbow. A good bra should smooth and shape the breasts, giving a sleeker line which enhances clothing. It should support breasts comfortably, improving posture and easing discomfort from headache and back pain. Make breasts appear smaller, giving the body a leaner and taller appearance. Lift and support breasts, giving a more youthful appearance. Make breasts appear larger and fuller, adding shapely curves. Q - How do I find the right bra for me?
A - Remember every woman is different, the style that fits your best girlfriend may not fit you. Please take the time to ask a fitter. She will measure you and take into consideration your figure, lifestyle and personal style. Once these concerns have been addressed, she can then work with you to find the style to suit you. Plan to spend at least a half an hour going through a fitting. Rushing will result in possibly getting the wrong fit and style for you, and you will not be satisfied. A good fitter should make you feel comfortable and provide you with the knowledge you need to improve your overall self esteem and image. Always put your shirt back on when trying styles, it gives a better idea how the bra will look under clothes.
Q - How many bras should I own?
A - Simple, is one really enough? We should all own a wardrobe of bras. This will insure that we are wearing the right bra under our clothes. We don’t wear the same outfits every day, so why would we wear the same undergarments? Each style of bra will enhance the different styles of clothing we wear during different activities. There are five basic categories of styles:
Seamless, gives a smooth rounded shaper under knits, T-shirts and sweaters. Seamed, gives a more defined shape that helps fill out darts, enhances tailoring and improves fit under blouses, jackets and dresses. Strapless/Convertibles, are important under strapless garments or those that are backless, have halter necklines or spaghetti straps. Sexy Feminine, gives figure enhancing curves under low cut garments. Sport, gives support under active and exercise wear. Specialty Items, those “extras’ that are simply desired or fashion trends.
Q - Can I wash my bras in the washing machine?
A - Not if you can help it. Please wash your bras after every other wearing. Wash by hand using a specially formulated detergent such as “Forever New”. If a washing machine must be used, turn delicates inside out and fasten clasps and use a lingerie bag. Never put them in the dryer. Fold them gently to ensure you do not crush them. Proper care of your delicates will ensure they will last longer and look new longer. |
